Our selection of fabric for awnings, blinds, shade sails, and tension membranes in Bangkok, Pattaya , Hua Hin , Coastal area and any location in Thailand, Laos, Cambodia requires careful consideration of the local climate, particularly the intense sun, high humidity, Windy and occasional heavy rainfall.
These are the keys properties we consider to select the fabric:
UV Resistance: Essential to protect from the strong Asia sun, prevent fading of the fabric, and provide shade for comfort. We use the fabrics with a high Ultraviolet Protection Factor.
Water Resistance/Water Repellence/Waterproof: Crucial for protection against rain. Some fabrics are water-resistant, some water-Repellence, while others are fully waterproof. For permanent structures.
Durability and Strength: The fabric can withstand wind, tension, and wear and tear. We selected high tensile and tear strength are important.
Breathability: For shade sails and some awnings, breathability can help reduce heat buildup underneath by allowing air circulation. However, waterproof options will be less breathable.
Colorfastness: The fabric can retain its color despite prolonged exposure to sunlight. Our Solution-dyed fabrics offer the best colorfastness.
Maintenance: Easy-to-clean and mold/mildew-resistant fabrics are ideal for the humid conditions in Bangkok, Pattaya, Hua Hin, Coastal area, Asia countries.
Aesthetics: The fabric is complementing the design of the structure and the surroundings, with a wide range of colors and patterns available.
Our Fabric Types:
Acrylic Fabrics: A popular choice for awnings, Umbrella, Cushion and Mattress due to their excellent UV resistance, water resistance, and colorfastness. They are also breathable and come in various colors and patterns. High-quality, solution-dyed acrylics offer good durability and resistance to fading.
We normally use the acrylic Fabric from Spain.
Polyester Fabrics: Often coated with PVC or PU for water resistance or waterproofness. Polyester is strong, durable, and resists fading. It can be a more economical option than acrylic, but its UV resistance and breathability can vary depending on the quality and coatings.
Vinyl (PVC) Fabrics: Known for being 100% waterproof, durable, and easy to clean. They offer good resistance to UV rays and are often used for commercial awnings and tension membranes. However, they are not breathable and have fewer color and pattern options compared to acrylic.
HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene) Shade Cloth: Primarily used for shade sails and some blinds. It is a knitted fabric that provides excellent UV protection and breathability, allowing hot air to escape. While not fully waterproof, some denser versions offer some water resistance. We regular use the Heavy-Duty shade Cloth from Australia.
PTFE (Teflon®) Coated Fiberglass: A premium fabric often used for permanent tension membrane structures. It offers exceptional durability, UV resistance, and weather resistance, as well as being fire-resistant and self-cleaning. However, it is a more expensive option.

For Retractable Awnings, Blinds, Umbrella, Cushion and Mattress: High-quality solution-dyed acrylic fabrics are an excellent choice due to their balance of UV resistance, water resistance, breathability, and colorfastness. PVC-coated polyester or vinyl fabrics are also suitable for their waterproof properties and durability, especially for commercial applications. Consider options with good mold and mildew resistance.
For Shade Sails: HDPE shade cloth is a popular and effective choice for providing UV protection and allowing airflow to keep the area underneath cooler. For waterproof shade sails, look for PVC-coated polyester or specialized waterproof shade sail fabrics.
For Tension Membranes: PVC-coated polyester and PTFE-coated fiberglass are commonly used due to their strength, durability, and waterproofness, capable of spanning large areas. The choice depends on the scale, permanence, and budget of the project.
